Topping out ceremony of the Pergamon Museum in Berlin

On the 3rd of May 2019 the topping-out ceremony for the basic restoration and extension of the Pergamon Museum was celebrated on the Museum Island in Berlin.

In order to keep the museum open to visitors, the work is being carried out in two construction phases. In the first construction phase A, which includes the outstanding antique architecture in the Hellenistic Hall and the Pergamon Hall, large parts of the bare brick work have already been completed. Elaborate safeguarding proceedings and highly sensitive measuring technology are being used to protect the exhibits. The already completed shell of the Tempietto is an externally visible sign of the construction progress. The Tempietto is a small temple of the Pergamon Museum and will be the new central museum entrance in the future.

Since 2011, KREBS+KIEFER has been providing the constructive engineering inspection and surveillance for this complex large-scale construction project on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site Museum Island.
