Topping out ceremony for the new specialist subject classroom wing at the Jakob Brucker grammar school in Kaufbeuren

On 27 April 2018, together with invited guests from the field of politics, the school and the administration, the Jakob Brucker grammar school in Kaufbeuren celebrated the topping out ceremony for the new specialist subject classroom wing.

The mayor of Kaufbeuren, Stefan Bosse, and the headmaster of the Jakob Brucker grammar school, Christof Walter, thanked the construction companies who built the wing, as well as all the planners and other people involved.

The traditional topping out speech for this first construction phase was given by the foreman. The celebrations were accompanied by the school orchestra.

It has taken some time since the laying of the foundation stone in July last year for the building shell to be completed. The standards that apply to the exposed concrete and the weather conditions presented a particular challenge to the construction companies. The next major goal is the incorporation of the new specialist subject classroom wing into the existing building, which is due for refurbishment.

For this purpose, a connecting bridge and steel staircase constructions will be created. The planning and planning approval process for these structures is currently underway at full speed. The next construction phase will begin during the summer, with work on the conversion and refurbishment of the existing building.

Both the new specialist subject classroom wing and the refurbishment of the existing building will break new ground. The planned energy refurbishment measures in relation to the building shell and the design of the heating and ventilation system will lead to a significant reduction in energy consumption and will make the Jakob Brucker grammar school building complex a flagship project for the region.

The construction measures are being funded by the Federal Republic of Germany as a pilot project as part of the ‘Efficiency Plus standard education buildings’ funding programme.
