The Chamber of Engineers in Hesse, Germany has been organising student competitions in collaboration with other Chambers of Engineers for some years now. Under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture in Hesse, the Chamber of Engineers in Hesse has, for the eighth time, contributed to the promotion of up-and-coming engineering talent.

This year, the student competition was advertised with the motto “VISION – Construction of an Observation Tower”. On 21 April 2015, the winners received their awards at a presentation ceremony at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. The winners may now take part in the national presentation ceremony in Berlin on 12 June 2015.

More than 600 students, both male and female, from 54 schools throughout Hesse, including comprehensive schools, secondary modern schools, grammar schools and vocational colleges, took part in the competition organised by the Hesse Chamber of Engineers and submitted a total of 248 models.

In May, an expert jury, which for the second time also included Dipl.-Ing. Susan Herrmann, Managing Director at KREBS+KIEFER, judged the contributions on this year's topic “VISION – Construction of an Observation Tower”, and decided on the winners, who are now being honoured.

In addition to ceremonial speeches by Dr Martina Klärle (Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Construction Engineering and Geomatics at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences), Ingolf Kluge Dipl.-Ing. (Board member at the Chamber of Engineers in Hesse and Vice President of the Federal Chamber of Engineers), and Assistant Secretary Gereon Dietz, the jurors deciding alongside Susan Herrmann were also pleased to be able to make the commendations for the individual prize winners.

The large number of participants and the quality and originality of the models submitted are impressive and show that a keen and well-qualified generation of up-and-coming engineers will safeguard the future. KREBS+KIEFER is pleased to support the important work of the Chambers of Engineers in promoting the up-and-coming generation of engineers.
