On 26 November 2018, the symbolic last nail struck for the topping-out ceremony of the future headquarters of the Landesärzteversorgung Sachsen. Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert and Erik Bodendieck, President of the State Medical Association, praised the striking building once erected in 1903 as a new gem of Dresden.

The building erected by Dresdner Bank at Dr.-Külz-Ring 10 in downtown Dresden is one of the few buildings that remained rather unscathed during the bombing and firestorm of 1945. The building had been built as a banking centre in Dresden and, besides the two large safes in the basement, it has an exquisitely designed cash hall, which was opulent at the time of construction and extends over the glazed inner courtyard. Despite the repair of the war damages and two other major alterations, the building in the heart of Florence on the Elbe had been empty for five years.

In the course of intensive preliminary investigations, the riveted steel structure of the supporting framework hidden in the masonry could be explored and evaluated by recalculation with regard to load reserves. The core of the revitalization of the building currently being carried out is a superstructure over the glazed inner courtyard with a new connection level consisting of a reinforced concrete composite construction to create a spatial connection from the 2nd to 4th floor and the opening of the building to the inner courtyard.

KREBS+KIEFER Dresden, in cooperation with its colleagues from Berlin, has been commissioned with the tasks of structural design and preventive fire protection.
