The Great Mosque of Algiers - Djamaâ El Djazaïr - construction is nearing completion.

KREBS+KIEFER, as part of a collaborative group, provided the general planning for this cultur-al-historical monument, mainly led the engineering processes, and was the main responsible party for the integrated planning process.

The third largest mosque in the world will have the highest minaret construction in the world (265 m), which will also qualify as the highest building on the African continent. Because of its land-mark status, the architectural requirements on construction materials were numerous and the demand on sustainable integrity of its supporting structure was high.

The extraordinary dimensions of the building and the mandatory earthquake safety levels creat-ed the highest demands on the structural framework design. Furthermore, KREBS+KIEFER in its construction monitoring function, was able to ensure the smooth execution of the construction work, which was performed by a Chinese general contractor.
