Our colleague Carin Jahnel, in her function as a board member of the association of Women in Real Estate [Frauen in der Immobilienwirtschaft e.V.], moderated a panel discussion with the title “Trends in the digital age” at this year’s Expo Real at the City of Munich stand. The topic dealt with the digital transformation and its impact on the construction and real estate professions.

The round-table discussion featured first-class representation with Prof. Dr. habil. Kerry-U. Brauer, Ms. President of the State University of Cooperative Education [Staatliche Studienakademie], Leipzig, Mr. Klaus Dederichs, Associate Partner at Drees & Sommer SE, Ms. Katharina Schumacher, Managing Partner at ARINA® GmbH, and Mr. Christian Veddeler, Architekt UNStudio, Amsterdam.

Digitization was one of the main themes of this year’s trade fair. Examining the impact digital transformation has had on the professions brought up a highly topical issue, and was met with great interest by the trade fair visitors.

The conclusion of the panelists: The only way to manage the major challenges presenting themselves with the digital transformation is through collaboration and constant dialog with all those who are involved in the planning, execution and use of the buildings, as well as the experts from the research community.
