OPENING OF THE EASTERN TUBE IN THE TUNNEL STELLINGEN

About a month after the fire protection systems of the tunnel tubes were tested, the next milestone was reached on Monday, 10.12.2018 on the A7 highway: From the early morning hours, the opening of the first tube allowed traffic to pass through the eastern tube of the Stellingen tunnel.

About a month after the fire protection systems of the tunnel tubes were tested, the next milestone was reached on Monday, 10.12.2018 on the A7 highway: From the early morning hours, the opening of the first tube allowed traffic to pass through the eastern tube of the Stellingen tunnel.

KREBS+KIEFER Erfurt is responsible at this project that started in 2016 for the object planning and structural design, in the course of execution.

Drivers coming onto the BAB 7 from Kieler Straße can now use the eastern tube. In the course of this, noise protection measures can be implemented in the southern tunnel apron, and the old access ramp can be dismantled. The roadway between the new Langenfelder Bridge at Volkspark and the tunnel entrance will then be repaired so that all A7 users can be guided through one side of the tunnel from April 2019. Construction work will then begin on the second parallel tunnel.

The tunnel Stellingen is a noise protection tunnel with a total length of 890 m. It will be constructed in two sections and is located between the existing bridge structures Güterumgehungsbahn in the north and Brücke Kieler Straße in the south. The entire tunnel structure is expected to open in 2020. In both tubes there are four traffic lanes, one interweaving lane, side lanes and emergency sidewalks.

The next tunnel on the A 7 is already in focus. For example, KREBS+KIEFER Erfurt is currently working within a tendering on the Altona cover, which with a length of almost 2.5 km is a major challenge. Contrary to the previous approaches, the know-how of the construction companies and planners should be able to flow into this structure at an early stage through a Design & Built phase.
