IABSE Symposium Madrid 2014: KREBS+KIEFER present on many fronts

This year, at the 37th Symposium of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering, or IABSE for short, taking place from the 3rd to the 5th of September in Madrid, KREBS+KIEFER participated and took part in many different facets of the event.
The presentations and technical publications by KREBS+KIEFER were based on the motto of the convention: "Engineering for Progress, Nature and People".

Prof. Dr eng. Jan Akkermann, professor at the University of Karlsruhe, and business executive at KREBS+KIEFER, gave a lecture on the seismic design of the "Great Mosque of Algeria", the third largest mosque in the world, under construction at the time.
Dr eng. Ioannis Retzepis, business executive at KREBS+KIEFER in Karlsruhe, reported on the sustainability of post-test calculation on existing pre-stressed concrete bridges in Germany.
Prof. Dr eng. Richard Stroetmann, member of the IABSE Working Commission, professor at the Dresden University of Technology and business executive of KREBS+KIEFER Dresden, finally presented the findings of the newest research on the sustainability of composite construction of commercial buildings.
The approx. 600 participants of this structural engineering designer world convention attended the various technical presentations from the full spectrum of structural engineering. At the same time, the talks and international contacts served to facilitate the exchange of technical knowledge and experience.
