Celebratory Inauguration of the Laboratory and Research New Building 6 on 22/06/2016 on the Wismar University Campus

In building 6, for the area of structural engineering of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and for the construction skill centre for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, highly-modern teaching rooms and laboratories have been developed.

A challenge for the planning was to integrate the laboratory building constructed in 1988 with appropriate office buildings with respect to the necessary room program into the new building.

Due to an interlocking of the new building with the existing building through the supporting structure, the architecture and functionality of the building use has been successfully harmonised.

The spatial configuration and technical equipment of the laboratories meet the set requirements and provide a flexibility for use.

As well as the structural engineering, including the engineering inspection of the design, the structural physics and preventive fire safety were provided by KREBS+KIEFER.
