30 years of KREBS+KIEFER in Karlsruhe

On 1 April 1987, the first branch of KREBS+KIEFER was opened in Karlsruhe. At the same time, KREBS+KIEFER Ingenieure GmbH, with headquarters in Karlsruhe, represents our engineering company at locations in Freiburg, Stuttgart and Munich. That was enough of a reason to celebrate the big day on 30 June, 2017 with a large summer party for our staff and their families.

What began with an external site for the Forst Tunnel Project of the new Mannheim-Karlsruhe route has grown into an engineering company with more than 100 employees and thus an integral part of the nationwide KREBS+KIEFER Group. Since then, the company has overseen over 2,000 projects, both deep under the ground and high up in the sky.

The KREBS+KIEFER South team is engaged in civil engineering projects on rail, roads and waterways. Parts of the new Erfurt-Leipzig/Halle DB route were planned in Karlsruhe. The Katzenberg Tunnel in South Baden, the Finne Tunnel and currently the Rastatt Tunnel were conceived and implemented with our participation. The Marode motorway bridges on A5 and A8 were upgraded thanks to KREBS+KIEFER. In waterways engineering, the locks, such as Kachlet and Hirschhorn, as well as weirs, were constructed and extended. In 2006, KREBS+KIEFER took part in the construction of the Olympic Stadium in Berlin and the Commercial Bank Arena in Frankfurt for the football World Cup.

In Karlsruhe, KREBS+KIEFER is currently responsible for overseeing the construction of the combined solution tramway tunnel and the constructional inspection of the new Vincentius clinic, the largest hospital building in south-west Germany.

Last but not least, the Karlsruhe team holds two world records: the construction of the ship lift at the Three Gorges Dam in China, which is the largest of its kind, and, at the Great Mosque in Algiers, the shell of the tallest minaret of the world (also the tallest building in Africa).

In summer, the KREBS+KIEFER South staff and their families celebrated the past at the “WaTT's“ in Ettlingen.

The team looks set for successful, collaborative future!
