Road bridge across the Anhalt railway Berlin

A question of logistics

Due to high demand, the logistics centre in Großbeeren, 5 km south of Berlin, has been expanded. In order to connect the new industrial real estate with the main branches of the cargo transport centre in South Großbeeren, KREBS+KIEFER planned the development of a street and a road bridge that would cross the double-track ICE line running from Berlin to Leipzig and two goods lines.

The 64 metre long bridge was constructed as a two-section construction in composite steel (steel girders and concrete road surface), with the goal of causing the least amount of interference possible with the railway. KREBS+KIEFER was also responsible for the transport planning for the approach road with walkways, cycle lanes, a roundabout and HGV recovery areas, and supervised the construction works. Through a sophisticated check interval and assembly concept, the effects on the rail operations were limited to an acceptable degree. Further elements of the task were the cable and pipeline planning, as well as a ditch drain with overflow into a new trough system.
