National Institute for Criminology and Criminalistics Algiers, Algeria

Preserving evidence

This forensic institute built on the outskirts of Algiers is dedicated to investigating crimes using the latest scientific methods. KREBS+KIEFER took on the general planning of the project – from the architectural design through execution planning, the tender process and support for the awarding of contracts up to support for the execution phase. It was also responsible for coordinating all those involved in the planning process, both with each other and with the client, as well as for setting up and maintaining an Internet-based document management system for the entire project.

All correspondence and documents were produced in French. The structural design was in accordance with Algerian and European norms. The building must remain functional following an earthquake, which – since the building is located in a region with the highest risk of earthquake – made heavy demands on the calculations and structural design of the load bearing structure.
