Hospital in Tamanrasset Algeria

Improving desert supplies

The hospital in Tamanrasset supplies the inhabitants of the regional capital on the southern boundary of the Sahara with state-of-the-art medical technology and all the major specialist departments. The clinic consists of four functional buildings, three ward buildings, a round administrative building and three technical buildings.

As the general planner, KREBS+KIEFER set up a team of architects, specialist engineers and other experts. The mechanical and electrical installations had to be planned for the extreme climatic conditions as well as for minimum maintenance and maximum reliability. The key to success in this project was the coordination between all those involved in the planning process, including the client. Intercultural aspects played an important role. All correspondence and technical and contractual documents had to be produced in French. The planning complied with European norms.
