New construction of a primary school and after school center Nuremberg
New construction of a primary school and after school center in Nuremberg
A modern building complex is under construction at Nuremberg’s Bertolt-Brecht street, which consists of a primary school and an after school center.
The new building complex is made up of two large modules, in a rectangular layout, who then overlap into a common area or merge into one structure. Both building units have an open to the top courtyard in their respective centers.
The northwestern building unit is the home of the after school center with group rooms, craft/work rooms as well as facilities for supervised lunches. The southwestern building unit is used as a primary school with classes and group rooms and will also be used by the school administration.
The ceilings will be constructed as beam-free flat reinforced concrete ceilings. In the classroom areas they will span either with uniaxial tension as two or three-span girders from the outside wall to the court-yard and will rest on the walls of the hall areas. Bracing of the building is done by means of reinforced concrete wall panels, whereby the individual bracing elements will be connected via the reinforced concrete ceilings. The structure’s foundation is done as a slab foundation with a continuous bottom plate below the ground floor and the basement.
