Underground station Kleistpark Berlin
The underground station Kleistpark on the U7 line in the district of Berlin-Schöneberg has been in service since 1971. It is an underground station located at a depth of one and a half times and measuring 165 m in length. It is double-tracked with an island platform and an intermediate level with adjoining shop units. In 2016, the Berlin Transport Authority commissioned KREBS+KIEFER with drawing up a fire safety concept.
This places great emphasis on evacuation. Because in underground stations, smoke is discharged via the evacuation routes in case of fire. Thus, it must be verified that these are usable in an emergency, until even the last person present is in safety. For this purpose, the experts contrast the results of the evacuation calculation with a fire and smoke gas simulation, which takes a burning underground train on the opposing track as its scenario.
