Wustermark Railway Station Brandenburg

Accessible up to the platform

Under the Infrastructure Acceleration Programme (Infrastrukturbeschleunigungsprogramme (IBP)), the Wustermark Railway Station in the Havelland district is furnished with barrier-free access to the platform. KREBS+KIEFER directed the object and structural engineering and stood by the client, DB Station & Service AG, in an advisory capacity from the initial design concept to implementation of the physical structure.

There was previously a central platform at the station, which was only accessible via a staircase. The goal was to improve conditions so that step-free access is provided. For this purpose, a separate lift was built for the existing platform system and for the forecourt of the station, where the Park&Ride surface was located. Both lifts are linked to each other by an access bridge. In the event of an evacuation, there is also a staircase next to the lift on the forecourt. An additional task involved connecting the lift installation via walkways to the existing traffic routes of the forecourt. The new platform access was officially opened after an only six month construction period.
