Mahovljiani Motorway Interchange Bosnia-Herzegovina

Paving the way for European unity

Supported by EU funds, the Mahovljiani Motorway Interchange is part of Bosnia and Herzegovina's large-scale expansion of its main traffic links and their adaptation to international standards.

KREBS+KIEFER was engaged to perform the duties of the Engineer in accordance with the FIDIC "Red Book" contract. The "Conditions of Contract for Construction" are issued by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers. The Engineer takes on a central role as supervisor and contract administrator and is also responsible for decisions on claims made by the contracting parties under the claims management procedure. One key factor was the reliable logical and technical planning of the eight bridge structures. The pre-stressed reinforced concrete girders used as main girders were produced on site – any disruption could have delayed the entire construction process.

KREBS+KIEFER also advised the local motorway authority on technical implementation and on compliance with regulations issued by the loan provider EBRD.
