"Talk im Gerüst" – conference on scaffolding ends with a podium discussion

Concluding the joint conference of Germany’s two main scaffolding associations, Bundesinnung Gerüstbau and Güteschutzverband Stahlgerüstbau e.V., a podium discussion entitled "Talk im Gerüst" on the subject of standard design, instructions for construction and use took place on 28th April 2012. With the participation of representatives of scaffolding companies, the German institute for building technology DIBt, scaffolding system manufacturers, building inspectors, structural engineers and checking engineers, a controversial discussion took place on the feasibility in practice of the “standard configurations” which every manufacturer of scaffolding systems must produce as part of the approval procedures. With lively participation by the audience, technical and legal aspects were explored. Dr. Geldmacher, Krebs und Kiefer Darmstadt, explained the point of view of engineers involved in the checking procedure.
