The opening ceremony for the fully redesigned Brentanopark and the two new bridges over the River Nidda took place on Friday 2nd March in the presence of Manuela Rottmann, head of Frankfurt’s Environment Department and Stefan Majer, head of the Traffic Department. With this event, the park was officially opened for use by the citizens of Frankfurt. The two steel bridges in the Brentanopark are identical, each spanning 21,60 m. The superstructures consist of four adjacent 600 mm high rolled beams with a camber of 50 cm, which were delivered to the site in sections due to the limited space available. The beams were assembled on site and bending reinforcement was added one-third and two-thirds of the way along. The road surface consists of screwed-on steel plates with a thin cover. In addition to its function as a pedestrian and cycle bridge, each bridge must also be suitable for use in emergencies by a fire services vehicle with a load of 12 t. Krebs und Kiefer Darmstadt was responsible for checking the structural design and for construction supervision. The checking engineer was Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Günter Ernst. Article: ru, ja / 16.03.12.
