50s
|
Our company was founded in Darmstadt in 1950 by Prof. Mehmel, who was a professor at the Institute of Concrete Structures and Building Materials at the Technical University in Darmstadt. Krebs und Kiefer still has close connections with the TU Darmstadt. Most important principle: consistently high quality in structural design and civil engineering - there were good reasons why our founding father was well known as a leading expert in bridge construction.

|
60s
Prof. Krebs had worked for Prof. Mehmel's consultancy since the 50s and became its first partner in 1965. The foundation for future success was laid; the expertise and excellent reputations of our founders set the standards for our work right up to the present day.

70s
A once-in-a-lifetime project: the construction of Terminal 1 and of rail connections at Frankfurt Airport led to rapid expansion. This period of development is inseparably connected with the name of Dr. Kiefer, who became a partner in 1971 - the Krebs und Kiefer engineering consultancy was born.

 |
80s
Increasing mobility led to major new challenges for our consultancy. We developed into a nationwide interdisciplinary engineering company, proving our wide-ranging competence in a variety of major road and railway projects. On the threshold of a new and exciting decade, Krebs und Kiefer Karlsruhe was founded in 1987 and Krebs und Kiefer Berlin in 1990.
|
90s
Our holistic approach was successful in a wide range of building and infrastructure projects. Traffic and transportation projects of dimensions never experienced before were initiated following the reunification of Germany. In 1991, we were awarded a contract to plan 100 km of new high-speed railway line including all the required bridges and tunnels. Thanks to our carefully planned corporate structure, we were able to handle such immense projects successfully - in addition to many other challenging tasks.
|
2000s
As our business expanded, we achieved growth not only in the number of our
projects but also in their size. For example, the first decade of the 21st
century was characterized by stadium projects for the 2006 World Cup and by
the ship lift on the Yangtze in China, but also by new challenges such as
project management or noise protection planning for major infrastructure
projects.
|
2010s
|
Our consultancy now has more than 350 employees at 12 locations in all
parts of Germany. With Krebs und Kiefer International, we are also involved
in projects in other European countries, in the Arab countries, in Asia and
in the former Eastern Bloc states.
