Erster Spatenstich für den Neubau des Leonardo-da-Vinci-Gymnasiums in Berlin
Der Neubau des fünfzügigen Gymnasiums ist für rund 900 Schüler*innen konzipiert und zeichnet sich durch seine offene und helle Bauweise aus. Die Schule ist ein Pilotvorhaben im Hinblick auf energieoptimiertes und nachhaltiges Bauen von Schulen im Land Berlin. Mit einem Bauvolumen von ca. 30 Mio. Euro stellt der Neubau des Leonardo-da-Vinci-Gymnasium einen wesentlichen Bestandteil zum Ausbau der Bildungsinfrastruktur des Bezirkes Neukölln dar.
Grundsteinlegung beim Fraunhofer-Institut für Physikalische Messtechnik IPM in Freiburg
Mit dem zeremoniellen Vergraben einer „Zeitkapsel“ wurde am 4. Juli 2017 der offizielle Baubeginn des neuen Fraunhofer-Instituts IPM auf dem Unigelände am alten Flughaben gefeiert. Bei dem Labor- und Institutsgebäude mit einer Gesamtinvestition von rund 60 Mio. Euro verantwortet KREBS+KIEFER die Leistungen der Tragwerksplanung und der Bauphysik.
30 years of KREBS+KIEFER in Karlsruhe
On 1 April 1987, the first branch of KREBS+KIEFER was opened in Karlsruhe. At the same time, KREBS+KIEFER Ingenieure GmbH, with headquarters in Karlsruhe, represents our engineering company at locations in Freiburg, Stuttgart and Munich. That was enough of a reason to celebrate the big day on 30 June, 2017 with a large summer party for our staff and their families.What began with an external site for the Forst Tunnel Project of the new Mannheim-Karlsruhe route has grown into an engineering company with more than 100 employees and thus an integral part of the nationwide KREBS+KIEFER Group. Since then, the company has overseen over 2,000 projects, both deep under the ground and high up in the sky.

In den letzten drei Jahren errichtete die DAW SE (Deutsche Amphibolin-Werke) in Ober-Ramstadt eine neue Unternehmenszentrale für mehr als 170 Mitarbeiter. Zu den ersten Schritten des umfangreichen Vorhabens gehörte die Auswahl eines geeigneten Architekten, bei dem sich in 2012 das Architekturbüro Brückner + Brückner durchsetzte.

Commissioning of KREBS+KIEFER for the exciting large-scale project FOUR in Frankfurt am Main On the former Deutsche Bank-area between Rossmarkt, Grosse Gallusstrasse and Neue Schlesingergasse, four high-rises, FOUR, will be completed by 2022. The four towers include a 100 m high office tower, two 175m high residential high-rises and 225m high hotel and office tower.In addition, numerous restaurants, shops and a daycare centre are planned for the buildings. The base of the high-rise will also feature a roof garden, which will be open to the public.Demolition of the existing development is scheduled to begin by the end of 2017.a
Meeting of the experts responsible for bridge load assessment (FvBel) of the German Railways (DB) from 25/01/2017-26/01/2017 in Fulda
To this year's meeting of the experts responsible for bridge load assessments KREBS+KIEFER was invited by DB (German Railways) Network AG to deliver a lecture on the experience in the testing of existing bridges.The subject of the lecture was the DB concept for railway bridges with stress-prone pre-stressed steel, which are awaiting trial implementation.
Ground-breaking ceremony for the Güntzareal in Dresden
On 23 May 2017, construction work for the extension building to the headquarters of the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden bank began with the symbolic turning of the first spadeful of earth. On the until now unused area by Güntzplatz Square, a “Quarters of the Generations” is to be built in addition to the extension building, which will shape the development of the Dresden district of Johannstadt for a long time to come. For the newly to be built state-of-the-art administration building, directly adjacent to the current existing heritage building, KREBS+KIEFER is handling the planning of the support structure, the structural physics and the preventive fire safety in full.
High-ranking visitors from China in Niederfinow
On 30 May 2017, KREBS+KIEFER had the pleasure of welcoming a high-ranking company delegation from China to the construction site of the new Niederfinow boat lift. Headed by Mr. Lu Chun, Chairman of the Three Gorges Corporation, the group of experts consulted head project manager of the Office for new construction of waterways (WNA) Berlin, Mr. Peter Huth, about the experiences gained during construction.The public China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) as one of the largest power supply companies worldwide, is builder and operator of the Three Gorges Dam By the Yangtze River. KREBS+KIEFER on behalf of CTG in cooperation with Lahmeyer International had produced the draft tender for the largest boat lift worldwide.
Dr. Sören Mueller to give a lecture at NANODUR Dyckerhoff
On 3 May 2017, the "10 years NANODUR Concrete" anniversary event took place at Dyckerhoff in Kirchheimbolanden. As an outstanding KREBS + KIEFER scientist in this field, Dr. Mueller was invited to give a lecture on "The UHPC parabolic troughs made of Nanodur concrete for solar thermal power plants".As one of twelve speakers, Dr. Mueller reported on his experience before an interdisciplinary audience of around 100 engineers from a wide range of backgrounds from the fields of construction and mechanical engineering.
Laying of the foundation stone for the new Mainz Archaeological Centre building
After completing the excavation pit and removing the remaining historical stonework, on 5th May 2017 there was a celebration for the laying of the foundation stone for the new Römisch-Germanische Zentralmuseum (RGZM - Romano-German Central Museum) building - the 51 million euro Archaeological Centre - in the southern part of the old town in the federal state capital Mainz. “The Giant”, as the new building is termed by Prof. Konrad Wolf, the Minister for Economics, Further Education and Culture, and Michael Ebling, the Mayor of Mainz, will become the new home for the RGZM from 2020.
Kienlesberg Bridge Move in Ulm Successful
With the latest of the eleven moves and the hoisting of the twelfth section on 29 April 2017, the shunting operation of the construction for the new public transport, pedestrian and cycling bridge was successfully completed. Since the award of the contract in 2012, KREBS + KIEFER have been working alongside with Knight Architects from the UK to carry out a complete project and load bearing structure planning for the 270 m long construction.
Deutscher Bautechnik-Tag 2017 mit KREBS+KIEFER
Dialog. Innovation. Qualität.Unter diesem Motto nahmen am 26./27. April 2017 rund 1.500 Besucher am Kongress des Deutschen Beton- und Bautechnik-Vereins (DBV) e.V. in Stuttgart teil. KREBS+KIEFER war auch in diesem Jahr wieder aktiv beteiligt. Im Internationalen Congresscenter Stuttgart (ICS) der Messe am Flughafen spiegelten diverse Vorträge in 13 Fachsitzungen das aktuelle Spektrum der Bautechnik wider. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Gerd Lindlar, Geschäftsführer von KREBS+KIEFER, leitete die Fachsitzung zum Hoch-, Industrie- und Wirtschaftsbau.
Dresden Bridge Construction Symposium 2017
On 13 and 14 March 2017, the 27th traditional bridge building symposium took place at the Technical University of Dresden. With around 1,250 participants, the meeting of bridge builders and civil engineers was very well attended, as it is every year.
Opening of the terminal of the rolling motorway in Freiburg im Breisgau
After completion of a construction phase lasting around 18 months, the opening of the modernised terminal of the Rolling Motorway (Rola) in Freiburg im Breisgau, which cost around EUR 15 million, opened on 16 March 2017.KREBS+KIEFER made a decisive contribution to the success of this strategic infrastructure project by performing the following services: + Project management+ Approved submitter of licence applications and technical verification (EBA)+ Implementation of the railway company applications+ Health and safety coordination
Erfurt arena opened
On 22 January 2017, it finally came to pass! Two years after the start of the structural alterations to the venerable Steigerwaldstadion in Erfurt, the opening celebrations took place for the redesigned sports venue, which cost approx. €39.4 million. The modern multifunction arena will be used in future for football and athletics, while the main building will accommodate congresses, conventions, seminars and trade fairs with space for up to 2,000 guests. The stadium accommodates 18,600 spectators, and with concerts up to 30,000 visitors.
Ground breaking ceremony for the new construction of the Armed Forces Technical School in Karlsruhe
A symbolic, ground breaking ceremony on the 9th March marked the beginning of construction works for the new building of the tradition-rich, Armed Forces Technical School in Karlsruhe. The keynote speaker stood before numerous guests, politicians, the German Army, Federal Administration and project participants, and emphasised the significance of the Karlsruhe site as a training centre for the Armed Forces. KREBS+KIEFER is entrusted with the structural physics’ planning services of the construction project.

Am 28. Ulrich Finsterwalder Civil Engineering Award 2017
On 10 February 2017 the shiplift at the Three Gorges dam, China received a prize as part of the 15th Civil Engineering Award 2017. Thanks to the design by KREBS+KIEFER in cooperation with Lahmeyer International, China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) successfully set a world record: The structure, designed for ships with up to 3,000 tons displacement, and lifting height of up to 113 m, is the largest of its kind.

With effect from 1 January 2017, Dipl.-Phys. Peter Fritz took up his position as a member to the newly established KREBS+KIEFER FRITZ AG management board. Prior to this, Mr Fritz was a partner and an executive director of FRITZ GmbH.By combining the competencies and capacities of both engineering companies in KREBS+KIEFER FRITZ AG, a sustainable expansion in the fields of sound protection, vibration protection, technical acoustics, building and room acoustics as well as thermal construction physics will be implemented.

On 1 January 2017, KREBS+KIEFER FRITZ AG opened its Darmstadt office. KREBS + KIEFER FRITZ AG is the company which has been formed from the merger of the soundproofing division of KREBS + KIEFER Ingenieure GmbH Darmstadt and FRITZ GmbH from Einhausen.
Appointment of Mr Fabian Ruhl as Managing Director
Dr.-Ing. Fabian Ruhl is assuming the role of managing the construction management division in Darmstadt effective as of 01 January 2017. This is another step towards meeting the structural requirements for further growth in KREBS+KIEFER’s construction management activities. At the same time, Dr.-Ing.
